On the left, Mrs. Ethel Choy, Richard's mother, born on Oahu. On the right, Wong Shee and Kai, May's parents, born in China and relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. Ethel was a head accountant at Pearl Harbor and after retiring, worked into her 80's doing the books at Paradise; her salary....LOVE. May's parents were "classic" China, opened a laundry in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Richard's beautiful bride, May, named the company Paradise Optical because of the beauty of the islands. Seen here taking an order and wearing the latest eyewear fashion of the 1960's.
